Is Content Still King?Wednesday, 20 Sep 2017
For content to be King it must be relevant, educational, valuable and crucially have context.
If content isn’t these things, then it’s nothing.
20 years ago, Bill Gates predicted that the inter-connectivity of the World Wide Web would be the platform for content to be shared across the world, not just by large corporations but by anyone with something to share.
"One of the exciting things about the internet is that anyone with a
PC and a modem can publish whatever content they can create"
Bill Gates (1996)But if everyone is creating content, then how does my content stand out?
The expectation isn’t for every post to go viral necessarily, but to be engaging enough to promote activity. Spend time framing your content with a quality headline, a lead image, or caption as well. This encourages viewers even more so to click, and including share buttons encourages them further.
Know your audience.
Your content must "feel" like it applies directly to the reader’s life at the time it’s being consumed. That’s context.
Content, with context, is still king.
